  • Equipment is in good working condition and was donated because it is not compatible with the company's activities
  • The donation is expected to benefit about 2,600 people in six municipalities this year
  • Initiative reaffirms VINCI Airports network's socioeconomic and environmental guidelines

Manaus Airport, managed by the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, a member of the VINCI Airports network, donated 61 computers to the Instituto Descarte Correto, which works with digital inclusion programs in rural, riverside, and indigenous communities in the Amazon. The machines will be directed to communities in at least six municipalities in the region, benefiting about 2,600 people in 2023, according to information from the Institute. The donation took place on January 24th.

In good working condition, the computers do not meet the usage standards for the company's activities. Other electronic equipment from the airport that is inoperative will also be donated to the institution, which specializes in the environmentally correct disposal of electronic waste. The action reinforces the VINCI Airports network's commitment to local communities and the environment.

The Instituto Descarte Correto receives donations of electronic equipment (in accordance with Law 14.479/202) from public agencies, private companies, and individuals. The 'technological unusable items' are transformed into digital inclusion for Amazonian populations. The institution's executive coordinator, Wiliane Dias, highlights that the airport's action has an important impact on promoting digital inclusion in the communities, as it benefits and transforms the lives of the residents of these communities.

The CEO of Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, Karen Strougo, emphasizes: “We are very pleased to participate in this initiative. Putting into practice our environmental policy, which is paramount for VINCI, and also contributing to the social and economic development of Amazonian communities are indeed very special activities for the company.”
