TECA at Manaus Airport proposes new route to distribute imported supplies

• Meetings are being held with importers, industries, and freight agents;
• New routes with imported inputs generate a gain of 10 to 30 days compared to traditional routes;
• Benefits of the ZFM continue to be maintained.

Representatives from the Manaus Airport Cargo Terminal are promoting a series of meetings with importers and freight agents to present new routes, involving air and sea modes as an alternative for the flow of imported products during the historic drought in Amazonas.

The idea is to present those involved in cargo transportation with new routes featuring more innovative approaches that can be a solution even beyond the period of the historic drought. 

An example of this innovation is what has already been tested by Teca with a major company from the Manaus Free Trade Zone and was a success. The traditional cargo route, known as Sea-Air, involves the path from Asia to Los Angeles by sea, from Los Angeles to Miami by land, and from Miami to Manaus by air. The new proposal changes this route to Asia-Santos, Santos-Guarulhos, and Guarulhos-Manaus.

The cargo clearance was done in Manaus, and all tax benefits related to the ZFM legislation were ensured, with the cargo being nationalized in Manaus by Customs Transit Declaration (DTA).

The General Cargo Manager, Thiago Brandão, explains: “This new route provides a gain of between 10 and 30 days for the industries, which means a lot because we are talking about raw materials that enter the production line without being idle for long. These new proposals have become even more viable at the current moment and allow us to continue serving the market for Black Friday and end-of-year sales.”
