Manaus Airport records 2.1 million passengers through September

•  Amount exceeds by 5.8% what was recorded in the same period of the previous year;

•  Airport received more than 764,000 passengers in the 3rd quarter of 2024;

•  More than 90 million passengers used VINCI Airports' network worldwide between July and September 2024.

Manaus Airport reached, from January to September this year, the mark of 2.1 million passengers, representing a growth of 5.8% compared to the same period last year. In the 3rd quarter of 2024 alone, 764,000 passengers passed through the airport, an increase of 10% compared to the first three quarters of 2023.

Landing and takeoff operations at Manaus Airport also showed positive performance, with an increase of 9.3% compared to 2023. 

This growth is attributed to efforts to expand the air network in Amazonas. Since its arrival in the Northern region three years ago, VINCI Airports, through the Concessionaire of the Airports of the Amazon, has been driving new flights, ensuring an increase in the frequency of operations, especially for international destinations. 

In Manaus, for example, the number of direct flights to Colombia quadrupled, with emphasis on the new route to Bogotá. Among international flights, the most sought after were the USA and Colombia. Manaus also has regular flights to Florida, Venezuela, and Panama, with new routes to Portugal by TAP in November and increased frequency to Panama by Copa Airlines starting in January. Domestic destinations such as São Paulo, Brasília, and Rio de Janeiro also gained relevance during the period. 

Performance around the world 

Also according to the latest traffic balance, more than 90 million passengers used VINCI Airports' network in the last quarter. The number represents an increase of 6.4% compared to last year. 

The concessionaire attributes the performance during the period to leisure tourism, with a highlight on the demand from European tourists for summer destinations around the Mediterranean. Additionally, the third quarter was also marked by the recovery of traffic in Japan. 

The phenomenon, considered accelerated by VINCI Airports, was notably due to the announcement of the reopening of routes to major Chinese cities. The news boosted the offer of seats for Chinese and Japanese origin airlines. 

In other locations, traffic remained dynamic, as in the case of Santiago airport, the capital of Chile. The aerodrome, according to the balance, benefited from the recovery of its regional traffic to Brazil and Argentina, for example. 

The phenomenon was supported by the increased offer proposed by airlines, mainly LATAM and Avianca. Finally, routes with Spain remained popular during the period, while traffic growth also remains strong in Cape Verde – a destination that continues to be attractive to European passengers.
