Manaus Airport Runway Resumes 24-Hour Operations After Completion of Main Construction Phase

• Interventions ensure more safety and efficiency in airport operations;
• Works strictly follow the schedule and continue until June, but without affecting landing and takeoff operations;
• In parallel, improvements are also underway in the passenger terminal.

Manaus Airport, a member of VINCI Airports, starting this Tuesday (9), resumes 24-hour operations following the completion of the most impactful phase of runway construction. Over the past 4 months, significant investments have been made in the runway infrastructure focusing on the safety and efficiency of airport operations. 

The management of Manaus Airport celebrated the successful planning and execution of this phase and highlighted the following points: 

• The runway closure was discussed in advance and optimized with airlines, authorities, and all those involved in the operation, being fundamental for the works to be delivered within the communicated timeframe; 
   
• During the runway closure, there were no flight cancellations due to the works; and 
• There will be no more runway closures until the completion of complementary works.

Among the interventions carried out on the runway are improvements in leveling, drainage, and signaling. The works around the runway continue until June of this year, but without affecting landing and takeoff operations. In parallel, other actions are underway in the passenger terminal, with the optimization and adaptation of spaces. By October, users will have a more comfortable, modern, and efficient airport. 

The infrastructure works are provided for in the Concession Contract signed with the National Civil Aviation Agency – ANAC. The Concessionaire of the Airports of the Amazon, a member of the VINCI Airports Network, took over the management of Manaus Airport a little over two years ago, and as soon as it began operations, it carried out a series of immediate improvements, followed by the execution of the construction plan, which is underway.
