Manaus Airport conducts simulated airport emergency training

•  Training involves the Fire Department, Samu, security forces, Medical-hospital Network, Air Operators, and air traffic control;

•  Simulation includes the collaboration of 30 volunteers, students from the Federal University of Amazonas - UFAM;

•  Regular training helps strengthen the airport's emergency response capability.

To ensure preparedness for effective and coordinated action in critical moments, Manaus Airport conducted an emergency simulation training on Thursday, the 17th. The aim is to minimize chaos and ensure that, in real situations, everyone knows what to do and can act together safely, assessing the effectiveness of the procedures and the efficiency of the resources allocated in the Airport Emergency Plan.

The training took place in the operational area of Manaus Airport and simulated the landing of a commercial A321 aircraft at the runway threshold, with hydraulic problems and power loss, which would cause an aeronautical accident with fire in a scenario with simulated victims. 

The action helps integrate teams, such as medical services, Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), Fire Department, security forces, and air traffic control, ensuring that everyone knows their roles and how to communicate effectively during an emergency.

The training included 30 volunteer actors in the scenarios, so that the medical-hospital network could take action with emergency protocols. Two helicopters participated in the action, simulating the transport of victims to the helipad of the Getúlio Vargas University Hospital.

The Director of Operations of VINCI Airports in Brazil, Etiene Lefort, highlights: “This and other exercises we conduct throughout the year help us ensure the effectiveness of our procedures and joint action with the other involved agencies. The main goal will always be to save lives, reducing the impact of possible air accidents or other emergencies within the airport and ensuring that the teams' responses are quick and assertive.”
