Concessionaire of Amazon Airports leads efforts to standardize civil aviation safety in Brazil

-Modernization of AVSEC protocols is among the main objectives of the Working Group created by ANAC;

-Monthly meetings will discuss preventive experiences and security exercises at Brazilian airports;

-A representative from the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia will be responsible for drafting a booklet compiling the best practices to be followed.

The Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, responsible for managing Manaus Airport, will lead the production of an unprecedented document compiling the best practices for prevention and conducting security exercises at Brazilian airports. This initiative is one of the tasks for 2024 of the Brazilian Civil Aviation Security Group against Acts of Unlawful Interference (BASEeT), maintained by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

The Quality Coordinator of Salvador Bahia Airport, which is also part of the VINCI Airports network, Alessandro Peixoto, is chairing the ANAC debate forum dedicated to improving Brazilian civil aviation security, acting against unlawful acts and interferences (AVSEC). The AVSEC Quality Coordinator of the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, Reginaldo Peixoto, will lead the thematic axis tasked with delivering a manual compiling the best practices for security exercises.

AVSEC is an acronym in English that stands for Civil Aviation Security against Acts of Unlawful Interference. It is a series of protocols followed by airports worldwide to prevent accidents and test the speed of response in case of problems. The exercises help assess the effectiveness of contingency plans, outline the response plan of each involved link, evaluate actions, and identify possible failures.

This will be the first time Brazil will have a manual with the best practices for civil aviation security. The group will meet once a month to build the new tool.

The Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia manages seven airports in the northern region, where it adopts strict AVSEC protocols. In addition to Manaus Airports, the company manages the airports of Tefé and Tabatinga, in the state of Amazonas, and those of Porto Velho (RO), Boa Vista (RR), and Rio Branco and Cruzeiro do Sul, in Acre.
