Airports of the Amazon Concessionaire operates in four states in the region

With the mission of connecting people, stories, territories, and promoting positive mobility through an approach focused on sustainability, respect for populations, and a sense of local identity, the Concessionaire of Amazon Airports, part of the VINCI Airports network, has taken over the operations of seven airports in the Amazon region, located in Manaus/AM, Tefé/AM, Tabatinga/AM, Rio Branco/AC, Cruzeiro do Sul/AC, Porto Velho/RO, and Boa Vista/RR. Together, the airports were responsible for just over 18,000 flights and handled more than 1.1 million passengers in the first quarter of this year. 

The Concession Agreement, lasting 30 years, was signed with the National Civil Aviation Agency – ANAC. The effective cooperation between the Concessionaire and Infraero made a smooth transition possible. 

During the first three years of the Amazon Airports Concessionaire, significant interventions will be carried out at the airports, focusing on customer experience, creating travel fluidity, and providing relevant offerings. 

Since the start of operations, an immediate action plan was structured, which includes: the review and maintenance of all systems (including refrigeration, electricity, elevators, escalators, and the baggage carousel system); replacement of conventional lighting with LED, a more sustainable technology; general repairs in restrooms; and the provision of free, high-speed wifi. 

Specifically at Manaus Airport, the Concessionaire has begun reformulating the air conditioning system, with the implementation of the first phase of an emergency measures package to improve passenger thermal comfort. By September, the installation of new equipment with 5 million BTUs of power will be completed, aiming at the well-being of passengers and staff. At the beginning of next year, structural works at the terminal will begin. The boarding lounge will be the first area to undergo improvements. 

The company is also committed to providing customers with not only a modernized structure but also pleasant experiences during their travels. The goal is for passengers to feel, right at the airport, that they have arrived in a different city with its own distinctive and striking characteristics. The Concessionaire is working to expand the store offerings and structure a regional mix for passengers. In July, a restaurant offering healthy food was opened in the boarding area, and negotiations are underway to expand and diversify the options.

 In July, Manaus Airport expanded its flight offerings to Panama City through a joint effort with Copa Airlines. With this measure, Manaus now has four international frequencies per week. This action reinforces the concessionaire's commitment to increasingly connect people and territories. 

Environmental initiatives 

Reducing environmental impact is one of the pillars of the Amazon Airports Concessionaire, following the principles of VINCI Airports. Just like in Salvador/BA, where the first network airport in Brazil was established, suitable solutions will be developed for environmental preservation in operations in the Amazon. These will primarily occur in four areas: reduction of carbon emissions – notably through the installation of solar plants -, reduction of potable water consumption, waste management, and biodiversity preservation. 

This global plan will sustainably support the region's development, especially Manaus, where the third largest cargo airport in Brazil is located, vital for the economy and communities of the Amazon region.
