Manaus Airport gains new cargo flight that speeds up the transportation of goods to the Free Trade Zone

• New Braspress Air Cargo flight reduces delivery time for goods to Manaus from 15 days to 48 hours;
• Operation strengthens the Manaus Free Trade Zone and enhances the efficiency of the largest cargo terminal in the Northern Region;

• Manaus Cargo Terminal works to boost air transport in the region.

  
  The Manaus International Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, now offers a new cargo transport route to one of the main consumer markets for goods from the Manaus Industrial Hub, São Paulo. The operation, initiated by Braspress Air Cargo, represents an advancement for the sector and the region, providing more agility in the transportation of products to the Manaus Free Trade Zone.

 Braspress Air Cargo is operating with three weekly frequencies, using two Boeing 737-400F aircraft, which exchange cargo with Viracopos Airport in Campinas (SP). The aircraft, with a capacity to transport up to 20 tons, fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. With the new operation, it is expected that orders will reach their recipients within 48 hours. Previously, the delivery time could take up to 15 days via road and river transport, highlighting the importance of the air sector. 

The Cargo Terminal (TECA) at Manaus Airport is the main one in the Northern Region and the third largest in the country, with a structure designed to handle the air flow of products from the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) to the rest of Brazil and abroad.

In 2024, more than 139.7 thousand tons of products were handled, covering various economic segments, including imports and exports. The result was the best in the last three years, reflecting investments made by the Amazon Airports Concessionaire to increase efficiency and safety in operations.

The Cargo Manager of the Manaus Airport Cargo Terminal, Thiago Brandão, highlights: “The operation of this service by a robust company like Braspress Air Cargo is an important achievement for the cargo segment in the region and reinforces our commitment to further promote the Manaus Free Trade Zone, expanding supply and contributing to the economic development of the state.”

Regarding the new operation, the CEO of Braspress, Urubatan Helou, explains: “The volumes we will transport are already part of our portfolio, where we successfully operate in 100% of the national territory in other modes. We created BAC driven by the dissatisfaction of seeing high-value-added goods taking so long to reach Manaus.”

 The Manaus Cargo Terminal operates 24 hours a day, every day of the week. In addition to import and export operations, the terminal has the peculiarity of handling domestic cargo — industrialized products in the Free Trade Zone destined for the rest of Brazil.

 Since taking over the management of the airport, the Amazon Airports Concessionaire has been implementing actions to boost the region's air and economic development.

In the cargo area, specialized teams focus on operational efficiency and safety. The concessionaire also coordinates with public agencies and sector entities to promote the tax advantages of the ZFM model, encouraging the export of regional products.
