Manaus Airport records a 14% increase in passenger numbers in the first quarter

• Domestic routes drove the increase in passenger flow from January to March;
•  Top ten destinations in Brazil saw growth;
• New international connections also contributed to the early-year results.

May, 2025 - Manaus Airport recorded a 14% increase in passenger numbers in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. From January to March, more than 780,000 people passed through the terminal, managed by the VINCI Airports network.

The growth was mainly driven by the increase in passenger flow on domestic routes, with highlights being Guarulhos (SP), Brasília (DF), and Campinas (SP), which grew by an average of 6% compared to 2024. Overall, the top ten domestic destinations from Manaus showed increased demand during the period.

The new route between Manaus and Confins (MG), inaugurated in the second half of last year by Azul, attracted 36,900 passengers in the first three months of 2025. In percentage terms, the highest increases were in connections with Boa Vista, with over 35.7%, Belém, with over 21%, and Rio de Janeiro, with over 18.3%.

The expansion trend follows the strong performance recorded in 2024, when the airport had 2.9 million passengers, a 10% increase over the previous year.

In the international segment, the resumption of direct flights to Lisbon, operated by TAP, and the strengthening of routes to Colombia and Panama also contributed to the positive results. 

In Brazil, the VINCI Airports network, which operates the airports of Manaus, Salvador, Tefé, Tabatinga, Boa Vista, Porto Velho, Rio Branco, and Cruzeiro do Sul, totaled more than 3 million passengers during this period.

Performance around the world

The global VINCI Airports network reached the mark of 73 million passengers in the first quarter of 2025 – 6% more than in 2024, with an increase of 4 million travelers. January recorded exceptional performance, with traffic 9% higher than 2024 levels, mainly driven by the recovery of the Asian market. In China, movement exceeded pre-pandemic volumes by 25% (compared to January 2019).

Growth was also supported by strong performance in Europe, especially at airports with low-cost airline operations, as well as positive results in Mexico and Chile. In February and March, the network maintained stability, even with the high comparison base due to the leap year in 2024.
