After expanding routes, Manaus Airport sees a 16% increase in passenger numbers in the first half

•  New routes and increased frequencies impacted the result;
• Tourist cities preferred by Amazonas residents, such as Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro, gained more flight options;
• Airports operated by the group in Brazil handled more than 3 million passengers between April and June.

The Manaus International Airport, managed by VINCI Airports, recorded a 16% increase in passenger flow in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. From January to June, 1.588 million people passed through the terminal for available domestic and international destinations.

The number of landing and takeoff operations also grew. There were 15,322 flights in the semester, representing a 6.6% increase, according to data released in the latest traffic report by VINCI Airports. In the second quarter alone, between April and June, the airport handled 808,000 passengers, a 17% growth compared to the same period in 2024. In Brazil, the eight airports operated by VINCI Airports recorded a 12% increase in the number of passengers in the 2nd quarter compared to the same period in 2024, with more than 3 million people handled.

One of the factors contributing to the positive performance was the expansion of the air network in the capital of Amazonas in recent years, resulting from collaborations between the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, airlines, governments, companies, and tourism-related entities. The increase in frequencies to destinations such as Fortaleza, Belém, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Boa Vista, and Santarém during this period also drove growth.

International routes contributed to this process. In the first half, Manaus Airport increased international connectivity. Since June, Copa Airlines has been operating five weekly frequencies to Panama City. Additionally, Gol expanded flights to Bogotá, facilitating access to tourist destinations in Colombia, such as Cartagena, San Andrés, and Medellín.

Global growth of VINCI Airports

The VINCI Airports network, of which Salvador airport is a part, recorded a global growth of 6.7% in the second quarter of 2025, totaling more than 86 million passengers.

The increase was driven by a greater seat offer, especially from low-cost airlines, and strong demand for long-haul routes, which grew by 11%. Lisbon, Edinburgh, and London Gatwick stood out with the expansion of international connections.

China was one of the main drivers of growth, with a 66% increase in traffic with Japan compared to 2024. Phnom Penh airport in Cambodia grew by 15%, while terminals in Monterrey (Mexico), Budapest (Hungary), and Cape Verde also showed significant performance. In Portugal, long-haul flights remain strong, especially to Brazil and the USA. Edinburgh saw a 30% increase in international traffic, driven by routes to North America.
