Number of passengers at Manaus Airport grows 9.1% in the first quarter of 2026

• The airport handled 851,000 passengers between January and March of this year;
• The result places Manaus among the highlights of the airport network, with performance above the global and national average;
• Expansion of the air network and strengthening of connectivity consolidate the airport as a strategic hub of the Amazon.

Manaus Airport started 2026 consolidating its growth trajectory in the national and international aviation scene. Managed by the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, part of the VINCI Airports network, the airport recorded a movement of 851,000 passengers between January and March of this year, a result that represents a growth of 9.1% compared to the same period in 2025.

The performance was above the global average of VINCI Airports, which was 1.5% in the period, and also above the Brazilian average of 8%. The data shows the strengthening of the Amazonian capital as one of the main connectivity hubs of the Amazon, driven by the Concessionaire's work to expand the air network, investments in infrastructure, and other strategic actions focused on the development of aviation in the region.

The growth recorded in the first quarter maintains the positive trend of recent years. In 2025, for example, Manaus Airport handled 3.3 million passengers, an increase of 14% compared to 2024, achieving the best performance of the airport since the beginning of the concession. 

In addition to the growth in the first quarter, Manaus also celebrates the expansion of flights. Recently, GOL Linhas Aéreas began regular operation of the direct route between Manaus (MAO) and Boa Vista (BVB), strengthening the integration between Amazonas and Roraima. The flight started with two weekly frequencies, with an expected expansion to three frequencies between June and July. Another expansion occurred on the Manaus–Rio Branco route, which increased from three to six weekly frequencies. Meanwhile, the Manaus–Fortaleza route, previously operated seasonally, will be incorporated into the airline's fixed network, expanding connections between the North and Northeast of the country.

In Brazil, the airports operated by VINCI Airports reached more than 3.4 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026.  The growth compared to the same period last year was 8%. 

Performance around the world   

The global network of VINCI Airports surpassed the mark of 74 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, registering a growth of 1.5% compared to the same period in 2025. The result reinforces the resilience and geographic diversity of the network, even in a scenario marked by geopolitical tensions. Although conflicts in the Middle East and tensions between China and Japan caused occasional impacts, the effect on global dynamics remained limited. 

In Latin America, the network's airports once again showed outstanding performance. In Mexico, growth remained consistent, while the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica maintained positive results. The exception was Santiago, Chile, impacted by adjustments in SKY Airlines' fleet. In Cape Verde, Africa, traffic grew 17%, driven by the diversification of air connectivity, with new routes operated by companies like easyJet and Transavia.  

In Europe, airports such as Belgrade, Edinburgh, and Budapest maintained a good performance, due to the expansion of routes and demand for leisure destinations. In Portugal, Lisbon and Porto recorded consistent growth, with emphasis on the advancement of long-haul and transatlantic connections. On the other hand, some markets faced less favorable conditions. In London Gatwick, adjustments in flight offerings and impacts from the Middle East scenario moderated performance, while in France, increased taxation continued to affect domestic traffic. In Japan, tensions with China impacted results, although the regional market remained dynamic, with a highlight on demand from South Korea.
