Manaus Airport launches exhibition to celebrate 50 years of history

- Commemorative exhibition brings together historical records, timeline, and curiosities about the airport;

- The exhibition will be held in an itinerant manner, completing 50 days on display in Manaus;

- The airport plays a strategic role in air connectivity, logistics, and the development of the Northern Region.

Manaus Airport launches this Friday (05/22) a special exhibition celebrating 50 years of history. Named “Manaus Airport – 50 Years: Our History in Motion,” the exhibition brings together historical records, institutional milestones, curiosities, and visual elements that depict five decades of connection, development, and transformation of the Amazon through aviation. Managed by the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, the airport has been a member of the VINCI Airports network since 2022.

The launch ceremony will take place at 8:30 AM in the check-in hall of the terminal, conducted by the CEO of Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, Kleyton Mendes. On the occasion, the inauguration of the regional food restaurant Uarini will also take place. 

The itinerant exhibition will feature scenic spaces and totems with visual and textual content distributed in a fluid and immersive manner, with a timeline of the airport's history, gathering significant moments of its trajectory. 

The structure will also be on display at Shopping Ponta Negra (June 15 to 30) and at Mirante Lúcia Almeida (July 2 to 17). In total, there will be 50 days of exhibition, symbolizing the airport's fiftieth anniversary.

The CEO of Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, Kleyton Mendes, emphasizes: “Since it was built, the airport has played an essential role in the region's economy and culture. Being able to somehow revive this admirable trajectory and having the opportunity to continue writing this history is a source of great pride for us. We are focused on building a future with more connectivity, transformation, development, and sustainability.” 

A History in Motion

Considered the largest airport terminal in the Brazilian Amazon, Manaus Airport will feature a commemorative program for its 50th anniversary. Currently, the terminal connects Amazonas to 27 national and international destinations and houses the third-largest cargo terminal in Brazil.

With the start of administration by VINCI Airports, the terminal underwent a comprehensive modernization process as part of an investment package exceeding R$1.4 billion aimed at expansion works, infrastructure improvement, and acquisition of new equipment.

Inaugurated in 1976 and officially named Eduardo Gomes International Airport, the terminal plays a fundamental role in the logistics of passengers and cargo in the Amazon, being considered a strategic hub for regional integration and operations related to the Manaus Free Trade Zone.

For businesswoman Cely Rezende, the airport represents much more than a workplace. “I have been working at the airport for over 40 years and feel very honored to be part of this history. I have witnessed many transformations; we have welcomed people from all over the world. I can say that I matured along with the airport. We have other stores, but this one is my favorite because it is part of my life.”
