Manaus Airport brings education on operational safety to schools

• The first action took place this Wednesday (26), at the Horizonte do Saber Children's School
• About 150 children participated in activities about the risks of kites, drones, balloons, laser beams, and wildlife for aviation
• In 2026, the project will bring awareness actions to communities near the airport

Manaus Airport, managed by Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, a member of the VINCI Airports network, started a series of educational actions this Wednesday (26) in schools located around the airport to bring children closer to the world of aviation and share knowledge about operational safety. The initiative expands the dialogue with neighboring communities and demonstrates, in an accessible way, how actions taken outside the airport site can also contribute to safer air operations.

The first activity took place in the morning and afternoon shifts at the Horizonte do Saber Children's School, located at Otto Maria Street, nº140, Campos Sales, in the Tarumã neighborhood. About 150 children participated in the program, coordinated by the Operational Safety team of Manaus Airport. 

During the action, the students learned about everyday situations that can pose risks to aviation, such as the use of laser beams, drones, kites, and balloons near the airport, in addition to precautions related to the presence of animals near the airport.

The program will also address the relationship between improper waste disposal and flight safety. Accumulated or improperly disposed waste can attract animals to the vicinity of the airport, increasing the risk of collisions with aircraft during landing and takeoff operations.

By understanding the impacts that kites, balloons, drones, laser beams, improper waste disposal, and other situations can cause, children and their families gain more information to contribute to aviation safety and the safe coexistence between the airport and the community.

The Operational Safety Coordinator of the Airports of the Amazon, Cleisse Negreiros, emphasizes: “Safety is a permanent commitment and is not limited to the operational area of the airport. Bringing this knowledge closer to the surrounding communities is a way to enhance prevention and, at the same time, strengthen our relationship with the communities around the airport.”
