Manaus Airport enters a new phase of construction in the passenger terminal

• Improvements will be made in the basement, ground floor, and first floor;
• The construction will occur simultaneously with the normal operation of the airport;
• At the end of the construction, the food court will move from the first floor to the ground floor, and all arrivals will take place where the international arrivals are currently located.

The Concessionaire of the Airports of the Amazon, a member of the VINCI Airports Network, announces a new phase of construction for improvements and adjustments to the infrastructure at Manaus Airport. This time, until January 2024, interventions will occur in the passenger terminal, in areas such as the basement, ground floor, and first floor. 

The infrastructure improvements are outlined in the concession contract with the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and are being carried out in phases, with every care taken to have the least possible impact on users. The first phase began at the start of the year in the passenger terminal, with the implementation of an automated and exclusive system for access to domestic boarding and restructuring for international boarding.

For the airport community and passengers, initially, the new phase of construction only visually affects the routine in the terminal with the isolation of construction areas by barriers. In a second phase, the air conditioning system will undergo a complete overhaul to improve thermal comfort throughout the passenger terminal. To carry out the service, the airport will use temporary equipment for about 25 days. In the final phase, expected to occur in the first half of 2024, the food court, which currently operates on the first floor, will move to the ground floor, and all arrivals will take place where the international arrivals area is currently located.

The CEO of the Concessionaire of the Airports of the Amazon, Karen Strougo, highlights: “The interventions are temporary and essential to ensure that we can continue with our construction package and so that, soon, the population can enjoy an even more functional, safe, and comfortable airport. We will have even more modern infrastructure to continue fulfilling our fundamental role of further connecting the Amazon.”
