Manaus Airport reports a 3.7% increase in passengers in the second quarter of 2023

•          Between April and June, more than 620,000 people passed through the airport terminal; 

•          There were more than 6,800 landings and takeoffs in the second quarter; 

•          VINCI Airports recorded a 5.5% increase in traffic at the airports it manages in Brazil during the same period. 

July, 2023 – More than 620,000 passengers circulated through Manaus Airport in the second quarter of 2023, representing an increase of 3.7% compared to the same period last year. VINCI Airports, the network that manages the airport terminal, recorded a 5.5% increase at the eight airports it operates in Brazil.

Passenger traffic at Manaus Airport exceeded the same period in 2019 by 1.6%, the year before the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to data from the global traffic report by VINCI Airports. The terminal recorded more than 6,800 landings and takeoffs between April 1 and June 31, 2023. This number is 4.4% higher than the same period last year.

The CEO of the Amazon Airports Concessionaire, Karen Strougo, celebrates the quarter's numbers: “Since we started operations at Manaus Airport, one of our priorities has been to attract more flights. Today, we connect the capital of Amazonas to 29 domestic destinations in the country, compared to 21 in 2019. We want to connect more and more people and destinations, bringing them to the VINCI Airports network, and generating more development in the cities where we operate,” she stated.

Global result 

More than 67 million passengers boarded at VINCI Airports network, representing a growth of 24.1% compared to last year. When compared to the same period in 2019, the volume showed a decrease of 6.7%. Despite this challenge, demand remained strong, resulting in an increase in seat capacity to meet travelers' needs. In May, traffic - except in Asia - returned to pre-crisis levels, reflecting an encouraging recovery. It is noteworthy that some airports in Europe and the Americas are experiencing remarkable growth, with passenger numbers in some cases significantly surpassing 2019 records.
