Passenger Traffic at Manaus Airport Increases by 39% in 2022

● Approximately two million passengers passed through the terminal between January and September of this year. 

● Comparing the last three months to the same period in 2021, there was a 13% growth 

● The numbers reflect the efforts of the VINCI Airports network in promoting the development of air traffic in the region 

The number of passengers who passed through Manaus Airport from January to September of this year showed a 39% increase compared to the same period last year. The result represents 93.3% of the traffic recorded in 2019, the pre-pandemic period of Covid-19. In total, the terminal, which is managed by the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, a member of the VINCI Airports network, received approximately two million passengers in 2022. 

In the last three months alone (July to September), passenger traffic increased by 13% compared to the same period in 2021. Also on the rise, the number of landings and takeoffs of commercial flights at the terminal increased by 5.5% this year compared to last year, and 15% compared to 2019. 

The numbers reveal a movement of complete recovery to pre-pandemic levels and are a reflection of the efforts of the VINCI Airports network to develop the potential of local air traffic. In this regard, the network has been establishing constant dialogues with airlines, government entities, and tourism-related institutions focused on increasing the regional and international connectivity of the region. 

The CEO of the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, Karen Strougo, emphasized: “The results are extremely positive, and this means we are on the right track. In July, we expanded flight offerings to Panama. In December, we will already have two more direct international flights to the USA, which will further boost passenger flow. We are confident that we will have other important results later this year.”
