Spotter Day 2024: Manaus Airport offers a unique experience for aviation enthusiasts

• The moment values "spotters" and strengthens the airport's connection with the public.

Aviation and photography enthusiasts had the chance to participate in Spotter Day 2024, held at Manaus Airport. The event, promoted by the Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, part of the VINCI Airports network, took place this Tuesday (24) and featured a program aimed at amateur and professional photographers dedicated to capturing images of aircraft.

A "spotter" is an aviation enthusiast who dedicates themselves to observing and photographing aircraft as a hobby. The event featured 15 participants who had the chance to capture their passion for aircraft and learn more about the airport environment. 

During the program, the spotters participated in a safety briefing containing general guidelines on access to operational areas. After registration and the delivery of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), they proceeded to capture the landing of aircraft. Then, they took a tour of the runway and moved to the second registration point, located at the runway head, to capture moments of flight and landing of aircraft. The event concluded in the late afternoon.

This is the third time Manaus Airport has participated in the event, which is held in all countries where VINCI Airports operates. The airport was the first in the country to have a "spotter point," a structured, exclusive, and free observation space for aviation lovers.

The event promoted the exchange of experiences between aviation enthusiasts and photographers. The spotters were able to capture images of commercial flight landings and takeoffs of the day and the charter flight of the Boeing 757 from IcelandAir, coming from Salvador, as well as capture the sunset in the Amazonian capital, making the event even more special.

The CEO of Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, Júlio Ribas, highlighted: “Offering this experience to spotters in Manaus is an opportunity to further value this community dedicated to aviation and strengthen our connection with the public through their lenses.”
