VINCI Airports organizes special program in celebration of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon

• Exhibitions, visit to the first indigenous neighborhood in Brazil, and graduation of young people from the Ticuna community are part of the program;

• Initiatives are part of “Indigenous Voices,” actions for valuing, recognizing, and respecting indigenous peoples;

Celebrating and valuing the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, the airports of Manaus, Tefé, and Tabatinga, managed by VINCI Airports in Amazonas, host a special program with the “Indigenous Voices” actions. Photography exhibitions, artifacts and crafts, community visits, and the graduation of indigenous youth in a computer course are part of the activities in 2025.

Starting this Wednesday (4/30), Manaus Airport hosts a photography exhibition depicting the customs, traditions, and culture of the Sateré Mawé, Witoto, and Baré peoples. The records, produced by Amazonian photojournalist Nathalie Brasil, will be available until May 14 for public viewing in the main hall of the airport, near the shopping and dining area. 

On April 29, employees and members of the airport community will visit the Tribes Park, known as the first indigenous neighborhood in Brazil, to learn about the actions of the Witoto Institute, an organization led by women, which works for the strengthening of identities, cultural, social, environmental, territorial, and economic development of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.

At Tefé Airport, since April 25, in partnership with the municipality's City Hall, an exhibition is available for visitation that brings together traditional indigenous crafts from the Middle Solimões, with references to the Brazil nut, a fruit cultivated in the region, to the graphics and the daily life of Amazonian communities. 

On April 24, at Tabatinga Airport, the graduation ceremony of young Ticuna indigenous people from the Umariaçu I and Umariaçu II indigenous communities took place, who were part of the first class of the free basic computer course of the Évare Laboratory, promoted in partnership with the Amazonas Technological Education Center (Cetam). More than the delivery of certificates, the moment represented dreams realized and new opportunities for the youth. The Évare project is an initiative that promotes inclusive education and the appreciation of indigenous peoples, factors aligned with the social purposes of VINCI Airports, which maintains firm commitments to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) actions.
